The ideal orientation of the roof should be in a northerly direction, although west and east can be accommodated if this is not possible.

The average space required for a 4000w solar array is in the region of 3.5m x 6.5m in portrait, or 2.5m x 11m in landscape orientation.
Shading will greatly limit the output of the solar array, and it is not advised to install in a location that experiences shading.
